On Tuesday, July 24, Rising Tide Capital brought all of our communities together for The Start Something Summit; the finale of our 7th Annual Start Something Challenge reimagined to truly provide the Knowledge, Social and Access to Financial Capital needed to stimulate a local living economy. The day began with our 15 Start Something Challenge
The competition started with 118 applicants–our largest number to date–representing 35 cities and 12 counties in New York and New Jersey. From this initial pool, 50 entrepreneurs were selected to be our EarthRISE 50, entrepreneurs who are building strong businesses in sectors that we have identified as critical for creating thriving, local living economies: Health, Sustainability, Food, Community, and Expression.
On November 2nd, philanthropist, Emmy-award winning composer, and musician, Peter Buffett hosted a private concert and conversation to benefit Rising Tide Capital, a non-profit dedicated to transforming disadvantaged communities and lives through entrepreneurship. The event, “RISE: To Expand Entrepreneurship,” also featured a midnight market themed festival organized by Midnight Market, a Jersey City small business
